Motel 6 Alvarado, TX

I booked online, but at the hotel they said their system showed no reservation. They said they don’t work with any apps or companies and wouldn’t honor even their own prices listed online. The woman at the front desk was big and didn’t know how to talk to people, but for sure needs to take a shower. I’m not trying to be rude, but this place didn’t feel safe, with so many people needing help staying there or just wandering around the hotel.

The room was quiet, with nice TVs, and I only heard an occasional train. The king bed was great, and the clean luxury vinyl floor felt safe. The buildings and rooms felt safe too. Dairy Queen is next door, while The Crossroads Cafe and The Waffle House are a short drive across the busy street. Birds gather by the outside balconies and stairs, but the owners have clearly tried to protect us from them. The pool still isn’t open, and the front desk is more like a teller window, but it all works. I’ll come back next time I’m in the area.

The first look when I pulled up was, oh Lord, this looks like rooms rented by the hour. I asked for a downstairs room and was denied. I wasn’t sure why I had to check in outside. The room smelled really clean until I walked across the floor barefoot. Disgusting, my feet were black. The TV didn’t work, and when I went to the window to ask for help, the guy said he’d be there in a second. Thirty minutes later I called the office. He was rude, but finally came and fixed it. He told me to maintain my service dog, though I was holding her. She only barks when alerting me or feeling threatened. The bed was comfy and the AC worked well, even when it was 80 in February, but the ice machine didn’t work and the toilet ran constantly. There was no peace or quiet, with yelling, fighting, traffic, and doors slamming. The TV needs more channels, there are too many sports. I hoped the shower would be nice, and would find out soon enough. For $85, I should’ve gone up the road or slept in my car. Stay elsewhere.

It was decent and cheap, but guests feed stray cats, so cats are everywhere. My room kept getting flies inside because housekeeping left the doors open. I moved to the hotel next door after someone died by suicide two rooms away from mine. I didn’t feel safe.
