Econo Lodge Amarillo East

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, so we got a good night’s rest. Staff were welcoming and very friendly from check-in through check-out. Econo Lodge Amarillo East was a solid pick for the price, and I’d happily stay again if I’m passing through Amarillo.

Paid $80 for Tuesday night. The room was clean and roomy, with decent Wi-Fi, a microwave, coffeemaker, and hairdryer. The fridge barely got cold, though, and the highway is right next door. Breakfast was limited: Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, milk, a chocolate chip muffin, white or wheat toast, coffee, and a waffle maker.

I had to borrow a vacuum and clean the floors myself. There were crumbs, Cheerios, toenail clippings, hair, and more. The rooms were filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned well, if at all. The carpet was stained, the walls were in disrepair, and the ceiling was crumbling in places. The bathroom counter sloped so badly my toiletry bag slid off, and it looked ready to fall off the wall. Outside the door, wallpaper was peeling from water damage, with more signs of water damage on the ceiling. The photos didn’t match the interior. Breakfast wasn’t really continental, just two cereals, a few slices of bread, and a pancake maker. I wouldn’t recommend it.

My belongings went missing while I was out getting breakfast, and I believe a housekeeper entered my room. I told the receptionist at 3 p.m.; she said there was nothing she could do and I’d have to wait for the manager, who came in at 10. He then told me to wait until 8 a.m. for the housekeeper so I could confront her. I asked him to check the cameras to see if she’d entered the room. He said he would and would let me know. I told him I’d be up until midnight, but heard nothing. At checkout, he still hadn’t reviewed the footage. He said the housekeeper was coming in and we could talk to her. I pointed out that without checking the cameras, she could simply deny it and he’d have to take her word. I left with the issue unresolved. The room was in disrepair, and the guest service was horrible. They clearly didn’t care about guests. The price may be appealing, but it wasn’t worth the headache. 0/10, absolutely don’t stay here.
