Fairfield Inn & Suites Amarillo West/Medical Center

After more than 12 hours of travel, we were tired and wanted a quiet night. I had booked a king but got two queen beds instead. The air unit's fan sounded like a plane was coming through the room, so I fixed it myself after the hotel never followed up on my text about the problem. The only reason we picked this place was that it allowed pets. The grounds weren't kept up, and the bushes should have been trimmed months earlier. Breakfast wasn't worth staying for, so we went elsewhere. The gravy with the biscuits had no meat in it, and the meal was sad. The clerk had greeted us outside while smoking, and we had to walk through her cloud of smoke to get inside. We wouldn't stay here again.

The front desk girl was very friendly, and the hotel was easy to get to. But after a long day traveling with kids and dogs, we were hoping for a shower and some sleep, and instead found several roaches in the tub. Our kids were afraid to use the bathroom the rest of the night. The sheets were visibly stained, there was dark sticky stuff around the edges of the floor by the nightstand, and there were other marks on the walls near the bed. We were so grossed out we couldn't sleep and left very early. Our room was at the back of the property, where it was poorly lit and didn't feel safe. The area itself also didn't seem like the best.

We slept well in a good bed, and breakfast was hot and included eggs, biscuits and gravy, juice, and coffee. The Texas-shaped waffles were really cool. This Red Roof actually had the hot continental breakfast the website promised.

The room was roomier than a typical motel and the rate seemed affordable to me. I arrived around 2am, and Jacob at the front desk helped me get settled. I had a few requests about my pet and a late checkout, and they were considered reasonably. So far, the service has been great.
