La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Amarillo Mid-City

I felt unsafe staying here with my elderly mother. As I unloaded my truck, men above us were watching. The room was filthy and smelled awful. I told the woman at the front desk, but she made it clear she didn’t care. I asked for a full refund and said I wasn’t going to stay. It was so disgusting. Never again.

It’s a budget La Quinta, but I was very happy with it. The room was clean, and the front desk staff were amazing and helpful. Housekeeping did a great job too, even folding the washcloths into cute little holders. No issues at all.

The woman who checked me in was very nice, and she was just as kind when I checked out right after seeing the room. It smelled strange throughout, especially in the bathroom, and the area and room both felt suspicious. If I’d made the reservation myself, I wouldn’t have picked this hotel. My experience matched the other one- and two-star reviews. As a woman traveling alone, I’d stay far away.

The morning manager refused a refund after my husband called, saying he had inspected the room that morning and found it “clean.” The woman at the counter hadn’t been able to help us the night before, and her checkout demeanor made it seem like this happened every day. That was after we’d walked into a room that was filthy and smelled moldy. There was mud and dirt all over the sticky floor. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been mopped in ages, with built-up grime and the previous guests’ hair still in the shower. Brown stuff was smeared on the lamp between the beds. I thought it might be feces, and the “mud” on the floor made me worry about bed bugs too. If cleaning was that bad, I wondered what else might be hidden. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Please don’t stay here if you don’t want to sleep among previous visitors’ hair and possible feces or bed bugs.
