E4 Amelia South

A nice place right on the beach, but having two elevators out of service was frustrating, especially since we were on the seventh floor.

The pool and view are beautiful, and the on-site maintenance worker was incredibly diligent and kind. Still, our return to Amelia South this year was deeply disappointing after a good stay in 2024. We paid over $5,000 for a three-bedroom unit, but it was dirty and poorly maintained when we arrived: dirty towels behind doors, sand in the couch, stained and worn furniture, bathroom mold, and broken fixtures. The dryer vents into the primary bedroom, making it hot and dusty, which was especially hard on my elderly parents, one of whom is recovering from a respiratory illness. I was diagnosed with scabies after the trip. Symptoms started during the stay, and my doctor attributed it to the unsanitary conditions. I’d had scabies once before, and the doctor told me reinfestation can bring symptoms within 1-2 days. I’m also 12 weeks pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy, so this was a serious health concern as well as an unpleasant experience. My children are showing signs now and are being treated. The management company offered a 20% refund, which I appreciate as a gesture, but denied any link between the condo and my diagnosis. They also didn’t directly address the cleanliness issues I’d reported before I knew I had scabies. I’d hoped for a more responsible and empathetic response, given the health risks to my family. The nice view, pool, and kind maintenance worker don’t make up for the cleaning standards and property management problems that affected our health and our ability to enjoy the stay. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place until cleanliness, maintenance, and guest support improve seriously.

Bruce, the maintenance man, was really nice, and I want to thank him. But Unit 4 C didn’t meet our standards, and quite a few things need repair or replacing. I’ve been sick with a respiratory illness since getting home, and wonder if the mildew in the light sockets could have played a part. There was mildew on the living room sliders, and their handle was broken. The TV wasn’t working because the power strip had no red light and wasn’t supplying power. The toilet paper holder was rusty, the bedroom 2 shower doors wouldn’t slide, so you got soaked before getting in, and the handheld shower head didn’t work. We washed all the dishes and utensils before using them. There was an ironing board but no iron. We should have booked the house we rented last year. Think twice about staying in 4C.

We rented Condo E2 and loved it. It had a great ocean view and everything we needed to feel at home for the week, including a fully equipped kitchen and lots of books, games, and activities for kids.
