Hampton Inn by Hilton Amesbury

The desk manager, Honey, was exceptional, and the breakfast buffet was very good. Nothing important was missing, and the staff member in the breakfast room was very helpful. We usually choose a Hampton Inn when we travel, and after a bad stay in FL recently, this is easily my favorite location. The rooms are just what I expect from a Hampton Inn.

We had to stop in Amesbury late at night on our 17-hour drive from Maine to Myrtle Beach. It was pouring, we were tired, and we’d planned to travel farther, but we found a comfortable room and set off again the next morning. The front desk woman was lovely to talk to and hilarious. We slept great, with a comfy bed and a hot shower, and even our pups seemed happy. We stayed here several times three years ago when my boyfriend’s mother was in a local nursing home. We hadn’t been back since, but it was nice to return to this old favorite.

I’ve traveled often and been a Hilton Diamond member for 15 years, and I’ve never had anything like this happen. I booked one night on 1/27/2026 for 1/29/2026, and got a confirmation saying check-in was 1/28/2026. At 11:30 PM on 1/29/2026, while driving to the hotel, I discovered they’d canceled my reservation at the last minute without telling me. When I called, the operator was rude and said they weren’t responsible for making other arrangements. I was left stranded on the road at 11:30 PM. I complained, and the manager replied, “we refunded you.” They didn’t even understand the walking policy for arranging a nearby hotel. What a pathetic hotel.

The rooms are excellent, the breakfast is awesome, and there’s a heated indoor pool. If you’re in the area, stay here and skip Beach Road. I come back every time I’m nearby.
