Inn on Boltwood

The staff were fantastic everywhere during our two-night stay for a wedding. We had an unexpected brunch group of almost 20, and the bar and restaurant team cheerfully set up the tables and stayed kind and attentive. The night before, a woman at the bar searched high and low for a rarely used liqueur for our order, and came through. Our room was very comfortable, and the bathroom had been beautifully remodeled to suit the inn's era. There are fireplaces everywhere. We had a fantastic time.

The Inn is gorgeous, but its staff are what made our wedding day perfect. Chef Jose and his team made hors d’oeuvres, apps, and entrees our guests are still raving about. Vicky, Marita, and Tom at the restaurant bar looked after everyone before and after the wedding, and Vicky, the bar manager, made sure the reception bar was just right. Our three bartenders knocked it out of the park, and guests loved the selection and their drinks. The front desk and housekeeping staff had our room ready for the bridal party to get ready in. Catherine, our wedding coordinator, guided us through almost two years of planning, catching details we might have missed and helping whenever we had questions. She and the banquet team worked around our specific needs, and we always felt we were in good hands. On the day, Catherine, Dan, Elliot, and Adrianna led the team and made sure we and our guests were cared for. They handled any issues quickly and effectively, so we could focus on each other and our guests. We had our perfect day from start to finish. If you're looking for a New England wedding spot, look no further.

The price was relatively high, so we expected more. At check-in we were told the parking lot was full, leaving us to carry luggage two blocks in the cold rain with no offer of bell service. We also expected ample parking given the cost and location. Our room was about 60 degrees when we arrived. We were told electricity wouldn't work until we put the room key in the slot, and we had to keep our coats on until dinner. When we got back, it was a little warmer, but still cold. The “heat” blew cold air, so we shut it off. We were too tired to change rooms or call maintenance, and slept under extra clothes and covers. The “full” beds felt closer to twins, smaller than most full beds we've slept in and not big enough for two adults to be comfortable. The bathroom was too small for a couple and teenage daughter, there were no other mirrors in the room, and we heard every step from the people above us. They seemed to be walking normally, not running or stomping. Overall, not a good experience. We could've stayed at a chain hotel for half the price and been much happier.

The banquet service was outstanding, and all my specifications for my 40th birthday party at Inn on Boltwood were followed. It made the day really special. I'd definitely recommend the venue for a special event.
