Anacortes Inn

We were in town for a family event with six of us, and the location made the stay so easy. The kids could walk straight over to Storvick Park, and the teens liked heading into downtown for coffee and a look around without needing a ride from us. I honestly can't think of a better spot. The room was comfortable, with firm beds and soft feather pillows, just my preference. The decor was cute and modern, and having a small fridge and microwave was really convenient. We'll definitely stay here again next visit.

The main trouble was noise and the bathroom. The room was next to the stairwell, where footsteps on concrete sounded amplified, and an even louder ice machine made a thud every 15-20 minutes. We could hear neighbors talking, and footsteps overhead too, so it didn't feel private. The bathroom door wouldn't close all the way or lock properly. I didn't want to use the shower: the grout looked dirty, the ceramic was badly chipped, and a shower mat covered part of it. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the staff were kind. After we complained about the poor sound insulation, they offered earplugs. We tried spending time outside the room by the gas fireplace, but it was broken. The receptionist said it had been a known issue for four days without being fixed. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and cute, but too small to be functional. There was only one small wall-mounted nightstand, so I had nowhere to put my things. The ceiling looked unfinished. It also seemed like some money went toward fake TripAdvisor reviews and the rest toward subpar room improvements. I won't stay again, and would urge travelers to find somewhere better in Anacortes.

I wanted somewhere quiet to decompress after GPS sent me on a long loop along dark, narrow country roads, and Anacortes Inn worked well. It's right on a main road, so getting back to the highway was easy. Though plenty of rooms seemed occupied, I didn't hear noise overnight. The bed was comfortable, there was free wifi and a huge TV, plus a fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. There was one sink, just outside the bathroom. Traveling alone as I often do, I felt safe and secure. I had stopped for the night rather than look for my out-of-the-way waterfront rental in the dark, and got a second-floor double queen room. The front desk woman was very welcoming. When I mentioned that stairs can be difficult for me, she offered to help carry things up without my having to ask again. I was okay, thankfully. Parking was free and close to the office; the stairs had rails on both sides, and a ramp led from the lot to the office. I used the few steps nearest where I'd parked. Checkout was simple, just a text when I left.

Beds were awesome, and the room was spotless, with a recent redo and tasteful contemporary style. I liked the ceramic mugs and big glasses. There weren't any nightstands or table lamps, though, just one wall light shared between the beds, so I ended up using our cooler as a nightstand. Staff were friendly. The owner's modern impressionist land and seascape art was all around the room and lobby, and I thought it looked really nice. We'll probably come back.
