Fidalgo Country Inn

I'm still here as I write this, and the black mold on the bathroom caulking was my first complaint. Since then, management has harassed us. The manager discriminated against us over what one of my guests' cars looked like, kicked us out of the parking lot, and demanded my room number. When I said I didn't want to give it to him, he said the owner doesn't allow cars like my friend's there. There was nothing wrong with the car, it just had a light bar. My family paid for the room, not me. If I were paying, I'd want a big discount for the discrimination, harassment, and moldy bathtub, which have ruined the good vibes of my vacation. The place is old news. Even the hot tub was falling apart: a jet popped out while I was using it and I had to reattach it myself. Maybe I should bill them a repair fee. I definitely want to talk to the owner about the manager and their customer support.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and adequate, though nothing special and a bit dated. We had a suite with two queen beds and a pullout couch. The AC cooled well, but its fan squeaked, and one bed light was broken. I was disappointed the hot tub had been filled in; at least they'd put a covered picnic bench there. One nice extra: showing your hotel receipt at the restaurant next door gets you 10% off. July 3, 2025.

After checkout, I expected my caution fee back, but instead I got varying bills because I paid for the rooms in pairs. I called to ask why and was told towels in two rooms had been replaced because they were stained. Stained with what, and why am I paying for hotel towels that guests are expected to use? This was after a two-night stay. I still haven't received the itemized bills I requested, or the call from the owners the manager promised. We came to Anacortes with friends for whale watching and booked four rooms. At first they gave us one away from the other three, saying everything else was full. After three persistent requests for the rooms to be close together, we got what we'd asked for. Stay away or you might lose your caution fee for a ridiculous reason. Don't doubt it.

My wife and I have stayed here, and the staff were outgoing and very helpful. The prices are fair, and being by the water makes for a comfortable setting. The new hot tub is awesome, and so is the pool.
