The staff made this stay feel pleasant. Everyone I dealt with was kind and helpful, including the night security guard, and they let me check out late without charging extra. Still, for what I paid, the value felt a bit low. The property had outdoor hallways and felt more motel-like than I expected. Part of it was under construction, and the breakfast was only continental. I paid over $100 a night for essentially a room with two beds, so the amenities didn’t seem to match the price. The room had only a shower, no bathtub, which was harder while traveling with my son. I should have checked that before booking. The costs weren’t clear to me upfront. I was charged $80 for incidentals and later got only $40 back, and parking was an extra fee that wasn’t easy to spot. Since I booked through Expedia, I’m unsure whether that contributed to the confusion. I would have liked the room, parking, and deposit charges to be laid out clearly when booking. It was advertised as an 11-minute walk to Disneyland, but it’s about a mile from the parks and took us closer to 25 minutes unless moving very fast. Between the price, construction, added fees, and distance, I wouldn’t pick it myself next time. I wouldn’t refuse to stay if someone else booked it, but I’d look for better value.
My main disappointment was breakfast. The dining hall was under construction, which I hadn’t known when booking, and the choices were mostly packaged foods: fruit, Quaker granola bars, pastries, bread, plus a yogurt and oatmeal bar with six toppings. There were no eggs, waffles, or pancakes, the basic hot breakfast foods I expected at a hotel like this. Call ahead to ask what’s being served, or plan to eat elsewhere. The room was clean and in good condition, with no damaged items. The late-night receptionist was very nice and reminded us several times that coffee and hot cocoa are available all day. The shower worked, though the full-spray setting had weak pressure. Disneyland is an $8 Uber ride in the morning, or you can catch a bus from the nearby Toy Story parking lot.
There were five of us in the eight-person suite, and having two full bathrooms was great after a long day at the parks and while getting ready in the morning. But we found ants in the bathroom at check-in and kept seeing them throughout our stay. One night they crawled on my husband and woke him up. The breakfast room was being renovated, but the hotel website didn’t say it was closed. I found out online in reviews a few days before our trip. The temporary breakfast ran from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and was all instant: oatmeal packets like the store-bought kind, yogurt from a machine, and similar items. That wasn’t the full hot breakfast advertised, and the hotel gave no compensation or timeline for bringing it back. After a long park day, we also found a razor blade on the bathroom floor. We have a toddler, so thankfully we spotted it first. Maintenance had entered while we were at the parks without letting us know and left it there.
The man who checked us in was friendly, but he wasn’t there when we later made requests. We asked for made beds, fresh towels, more shampoo and soap since there was only one of each for eight guests, and an extra blanket. They brought towels and one additional set of shampoo and soap, but nothing else. The mattresses were in terrible shape. We booked because the hotel advertised space for eight and a continental breakfast. The room was basically one and a half rooms, not ideal but workable. The online photos made the property look amazing, though they were misleading. We hadn’t realized it had outside entrances. Breakfast also didn’t match what was advertised or shown in the photos, which may have been from another location. There were no hot foods, only cereal and toast, and nowhere to sit and eat. The pool was closed for an electrical issue. We wouldn’t stay here again.
Our cars were blocked in because there wasn’t enough parking, and we couldn’t leave for hours until the other cars were moved. The staff weren’t very helpful, saying they’d tried to contact third-party vendors about the renovation. I booked through Costco and was never told that construction meant there would be no hot breakfast. I chose this place because I like Best Western and its breakfasts, and my autistic son and I have dietary restrictions. After spending over $5,000 on Disney tickets and the hotel, I had to pay out of pocket for hot food for my kids. The first room had a boiler room loud enough to hear all night. In the second, there was black mold on the shower ceiling. I ended up staying because other hotels were full for Christmas, but I’ll never stay at this location again and advise others to choose somewhere else. I’ve never complained before, but this stay was awful, and I wanted to warn people before they book.
