Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

We were suddenly looking for somewhere else to stay by 9:30 in the morning, hoping not to miss plans we'd already booked. We'd left Quality Inn & Suites in Anaheim after a very upsetting check-in. Beforehand, I'd been clear that I needed an accommodation for my emotional support cat and was told it would be fine as long as the cat “doesn’t bark.” At the desk, an employee belittled me and raised her voice in front of my children and other guests. We were told to leave the property with the cat at all times and that we'd owe a $300 cleaning fee. My daughter tried to stand up for me because she saw how targeted and uncomfortable the situation had become around our disabilities. Nearby guests said they felt sorry for us and hoped the trip would improve. Expedia advocated for us, my bank supported us, and I had travel insurance in case of trouble. While searching Expedia for a pet-friendly place where we wouldn't face discrimination again, we found Motel 6. It turned the day around. The property was cleaner and prettier than we expected, felt welcoming, and cost less than the place we'd left. The front desk staff treated us kindly and with respect. She even let us check in early so our car could be in fresh AC and we could make our scheduled lightsaber workshop at Disneyland. Motel 6 gave our family relief and a chance to enjoy the vacation again. Thank you for turning such a bad start into a magical day. Honestly, you should be called Superheroes 6.

The location was great, the price was cheap, and it let us visit longer. We also didn't have any bug issues like some earlier reviews mentioned. The staff have been wonderful, kind, and helpful throughout our stay from 2/3-2/14. A couple of things have been disappointing. The hot tub hasn't worked at all during our stay, though we were looking forward to using it. And the room floors keep coming up dirty. We've brought it up with two staff members. Housekeeping does a good job with the beds, trash, towels, and the rest, but the floors aren't getting cleaned properly. Our children's feet were visibly dirty after walking barefoot. The sink is cracked too. It hasn't directly affected our stay, but it should probably be fixed for future guests.

The price and walkable location for Disneyland were the main upsides, and the staff were friendly. But in room 105, the floor was buckling with a chunk missing, and the toilet leaked between the tank and bowl. There was a hair dryer spot, but no dryer in the room. The bathroom fan didn't work, the shower curtain rod was hanging loose from the wall, and we saw a few bugs on the floor at night. I only took a photo of the missing floor piece. The rating here seems artificially high because the motel asks for a five-star review at check-in, before guests have seen their room.

Lucy at guest services is wonderful and always goes out of her way to make sure you have what you need. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the place feels very secure. It's such a welcoming spot. I really love staying here and will be back.
