The Westin Anaheim Resort

The billing was the most alarming part of my stay at The Westin Anaheim Resort. My Disney travel agent had already paid for the room. I agreed to a $149 deposit and an upgrade charge, and ordered room service once for $43. At checkout, they said I owed $37, which I paid. My receipt showed a remaining balance of $349, with my $149 deposit and the $142 charge applied to it, leaving that $37 difference. So it was frightening to see another $367 charge show up after I’d checked out. At the front desk they said they couldn’t even see it and that it would “drop off,” but it hasn’t. I’ll dispute it with my bank, and I won’t return. I’d suggest staying somewhere else if you’re visiting Disneyland. I wanted to love this hotel for its location, and the walk to Disney was easy enough, but there isn’t an actual shuttle despite the convenience pitch for Disney visitors. There was hardly any Disney atmosphere either. The in-room entertainment had Netflix, but nothing Disney-related. The stay felt awkward, and the staff weren’t especially friendly or welcoming. Before that final charge, I’d also seen an additional $66 charge.

Martiza made check-in feel welcoming and smooth with her kind gestures and upbeat attitude. The pool area also stood out. One morning the ground and pool beds looked so fresh I thought it might have rained overnight. I asked a staff member, possibly Alfredo, though I’m not completely sure of his name, and he said the pool area is washed and cleaned daily as routine maintenance. Those little details show how much care goes into the facilities. The Westin Anaheim Resort is well located, calm, and orderly despite being in a busy area. The rooms are comfortable, common spaces are kept up, and the staff I encountered in different areas were friendly and professional. Everything felt easy and hassle free. I had a very positive stay and would consider coming back or recommending it to other visitors to Anaheim. For a vacation in Irvine and Anaheim, this is the best hotel.

We still had three nights left when the housekeeping problem happened, and I hoped management would fix it quickly. On the first night, our room was cleaned perfectly. The second night, no one came at all, even though we’d made sure the service light was on. Returning to an untouched room is frustrating anywhere, and especially disappointing at a five-star resort. You shouldn’t need to follow up with the front desk to get basic service. I wanted the housekeeping team to handle the rest of our stay with more care. Update: they started cleaning our room properly for the remaining days. I’d stay here again! Apart from that issue, everything was perfect. The front desk team and restaurant staff were all friendly and nice.

It’s an easy walk to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, which made getting to and from the parks stress-free. The rooms and suites are modern, roomy, and beautifully furnished, much nicer than the ones at the Disney resorts. Suite rates are also more reasonable than staying on Disney property, so you get comfort and quality for better value. We had a terrific stay at The Westin Anaheim Resort. The food, service, and rooms were all excellent, and every staff member we met was welcoming, attentive, and professional. If you want an upscale hotel near Disney with good dining, great rooms, and strong service at a lower price than the Disney resorts, I’d recommend it.
