Baymont Inn & Suites by Wyndham Anchorage Airport

We chose it because it was close to the airport, but I’d rate it zero if I could. The room was just OK, with harsh white bulbs that somehow left it dark, and a broken toilet seat that slid around because one bolt was missing. We skipped breakfast since cleanliness didn’t seem to matter there. The rest of the hotel was very dirty. The white front doors were black around the handles, carpets were worn through and needed serious cleaning or replacement, and the hallways smelled bad, like an apartment building where everyone was cooking. The ventilation clearly wasn’t good. The shuttle was filthy and practically falling apart, and my seatbelt didn’t work. Wyndam should visit, this is a terrible mark on the brand.

We thought we’d had a good night, but when we tried to extend our stay, they told us no because they said there was traffic in and out at night. There were four adults and two small dogs who need to go out often, and we had kids with us. We don’t party. It’s ridiculous that people renting the room are treated as traffic just for coming and going.

The worst part was being left with no clear explanation or chance to fix anything. We’d reserved a room at Baymont in Anchorage, and about five minutes after speaking with staff, it was taken away and given to someone else. After a long travel day, suddenly losing a confirmed room was stressful and unacceptable. When you reserve, you expect the hotel to honor it, or at least give you a fair chance to sort out a problem before selling the room out from under you. Travel in Alaska is hard enough without scrambling at the last minute. I hope management takes a serious look at how reservations are handled so this doesn’t happen to other guests.

The owners were so kind and attentive when I came down with a nasty stomach bug during this visit. They made sure we had what we needed, and their genuine concern meant a lot during an already stressful time. We always stay at this Baymont Inn, and it’s our go-to because it’s a mom-and-pop-run place where you can feel how much they care. The rooms are clean, the atmosphere welcoming, and the service consistently exceptional. It feels like hospitality done right, and we’ll keep staying here every time. Five stars.
