At 1 a.m., a woman outside my window was sobbing and shouting, apparently in the middle of a bad drug trip. By morning, someone was openly smoking from a meth pipe in that same spot. Inside, the room was filthy and smelled strongly of cigarettes. The sheets were ripped and stained, the floors sticky, and the blinds had years of dirt packed into their crevices. Dust hung in streamers from the box fan. The bathroom had no toilet paper or soap, the towels were stained, and everything was grimy. The coffee maker hadn’t been washed either. Hallway lights flickered like a strobe. I’ve stayed in roadside motels, campgrounds, and remote cabins that felt luxurious beside this place. Stay anywhere else.

The staff were helpful and nice, but I wouldn’t stay here with children or as a woman because of the safety concerns. There were many homeless people and people who seemed drugged around the property. Noise from a domestic incident next door went on until about 1 or 2 a.m., when police arrived and made them leave. The rooms were somewhat dirty and run down, with exposed electrical wires, a peeling bathtub, and holes in the furniture.

Our room had a bullet hole, and the front desk man was asleep with a joint in his hand. The bed sheets were stained and torn, the shower looked muddy, and the bedside table was smashed to pieces. We also found cockroaches in the beds.

The room smelled of cigarettes and general grime as soon as I walked in. I couldn’t breathe comfortably, couldn’t open a window, and felt there was a real risk of someone breaking into my car if I left it. Outside, homeless people were actively smoking drugs and nodding off while standing. The manager seemed to be trying to get them removed and had his hands full. The floors were rotten, and the furniture looked like it had been picked up off a corner and dumped inside. Apparently the place used to be decent, but it should be condemned, torn down, and rebuilt.

This place could use a decorator with some skill. The appliances and bedspreads need updating, and the whole place could use a makeover. If you’re looking for ideas on a small budget, I’d be happy to show you my decorating skills.
