GrandStay Hotel & Suites Mount Horeb - Madison

The chocolate factory across the street was temporarily closed when I went, so I missed out on visiting it 😢. For skiing at tyrol basin, though, this is a great spot. Staff were attentive and polite, and breakfast had a good selection at convenient hours. I was with friends: they shared the king bed, while I slept on the pull out sofa bed.

The staff were kind and attentive, and we had a good weekend here. We used the pool and hot tub, both were clean and at a comfortable temperature. We skipped breakfast, but the breakfast area looked great. My two wishes for the suite are a larger fridge and a newer bed, since the one we had was incredibly uncomfortable.

We came for a wedding and felt comfortable in our room. The hotel was clean, quiet, and pleasant, and everyone on staff was welcoming and kind. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in town.

Anita was helpful throughout the planning, keeping in touch and sorting out our questions about the shuttle, rehearsal dinner, and wedding stay at the GrandStay Hotel. The shuttle and rehearsal dinner arrangements worked out, but several problems with the rooms left us disappointed, especially for what we paid. Two guests arrived to check in after the reception on Friday and were told their room had been sold. They couldn't get there earlier because check-in wasn't until 3 and they would have been rushing to make the ceremony. When they asked for another room, staff said they'd need to pay the full rate, even though they'd booked through our wedding block a year earlier. They ended up driving home. There were problems in our room, too. On Thursday night, the bride turned on the bathroom faucet to brush her teeth before the rehearsal dinner, and a steady leak from the drain pipe under the sink flooded the whole bathroom. We had planned to use that room for the bride and bridal party to get ready on Friday, with the hair and makeup artist arriving at 5:45 AM. Instead, we moved to another guest room so we could use the faucet without moving all the bride's belongings. A bridesmaid had also found moldy leftover food in her refrigerator after checking in Thursday. The room for the groom's parents smelled as if someone had smoked in it, with an attempt made to cover the odor. We appreciated the event arrangements, but the condition of the rooms and the issues we ran into were a letdown.
