Gardenside Bed and Breakfast

Heather is a wonderful hostess. She offers lots of great ideas for places to see and eat, and you feel as if you've known her forever. The apartment was spotless and perfectly furnished, with much more of a home feel than a hotel room, plus Heather's homemade goodies. It does mean going down stairs to reach it, which could be difficult for someone using a walker. We were glad we'd rented a car at the airport. Downtown Anchorage isn't far, but biking there was more than our 70+ bodies wanted to attempt. We also enjoyed driving to Kincaid Park at dusk to see the moose come out to feed.

Gardenside Bed and Breakfast was our favorite stop on a ten-day, three-city trip. We spent four lovely days there, enjoying the privacy and space of the basement unit and the homey neighborhood feel. The location was fantastic, about ten minutes from everything in Anchorage, so we had lots of time to explore. Everything was arranged for comfort, and our toddler especially loved the shelf of children's books, his own roll-away bed, the little stove and dishes, toys and blocks, and, of course, the chickens. Thanks to Heather and Doug for giving our Alaska trip such a great home base!

Heather was such a nice, helpful hostess, and the house dog Abby loves playing soccer. The place had loads of space, was very clean, and offered an excellent breakfast. Nights were quiet, and the bed and pillows were comfortable, so I slept well. I strongly recommend it.

Heather made us feel at home and shared her comfortable space with us. The jams, honey, and artisan bread were wonderful. It was relaxing and close to everything, including the trail system winding through Anchorage. We highly recommend this B&B!
