Microtel Inn & Suites Anchorage Area Eagle River

I stayed one night and didn’t sleep at all. I asked the guy at the front for an end room, without rooms on both sides, but didn’t get one. The noise was awful, you could hear everything through the walls and from outside. At least the bed was comfortable.

The person who booked my stay over the phone said there’d be a fridge and microwave in my room, but there weren’t any. The staff at this location were great, though. My room was quiet and clean, with plenty of soap, towels, and tp. It’s close to shopping, and freeway access is a short distance away from Anchorage. The price is hard to beat. I’ll be back!

We checked out after finding the room old and dirty. The window seat cushion was stained and had holes, and there were fresh blood marks and tiny black stains on the sheets. One corner of the comforter also looked like it had makeup on it. We told the front desk we were unhappy. I requested a refund through expedia, but the property manager refused to process it. I’d give this place no stars if I could. Stay away.

The front desk staff were friendly and tried to help, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here in its current condition. The room felt poorly ventilated and claustrophobic, with too little light. There was food residue on the walls, hair on the bathroom walls, stained surfaces, and an oily bathtub that seemed not to have been cleaned properly in a long time. We also got bed bug bites during the night, which was very concerning. We planned three nights but left after one. The continental breakfast was very basic, just bread, waffles, a few juices, and coffee, about what you’d expect at a budget hotel. Maintenance needs attention too: the baseboard heater control knob was coming loose. The gravel around the property made it feel somewhat unfinished. It seems management may be dealing with staffing and maintenance budget issues. Until cleanliness and upkeep improve, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
