Holiday Inn Express Amarillo South by IHG

Look elsewhere if you can. The room seemed fine at first, but there was water damage on the walls around the AC, which set off my allergies. There was mold in the shower, the curtain wouldn’t stay closed, and at night every passing car came through even with the bedside sound machine on. Sirens seemed to go off nearly every hour, with nothing to muffle them. I can’t comment on breakfast since we skipped it, though it looked pretty ordinary. The check-in situation started badly. I called several times and also used the website chat to ask about arriving early. Both said it should be fine, and hotel staff even gave me a check-in time. When I arrived, the woman at the desk was extremely rude and acted like I was bothering her. She said there were no early check-ins, even after I explained what I’d been told. Save your money. Other hotels around here seem comparable, and may have better rooms and service.

The pool looked inviting, though we didn’t get a chance to use it during our quick overnight. Breakfast was decent, and the coffee was plain but surprisingly good, maybe a French roast. Our room felt up to date and was comfortable and clean.

Breakfast was hot, tasty, and well stocked. After a long drive, it was a relief to be welcomed at the desk with a smile and real enthusiasm. The person there was genuinely pleasant. The motel was quiet and the rooms were clean, and getting on and off the road was quick and easy. We slept well and left feeling refreshed for the next day.

A comfortable place to stay, with facilities that seemed well maintained and an atmosphere that was generally pleasant. The amenities were enough for a convenient, relaxing visit. A dependable choice if you need somewhere to rest.
