I stayed in July 2015 and it was awful. The rooms were disgusting, and staff smoked all around the property, even inside the non-smoking rooms. The balcony faces the highway, so keeping the windows open at night to sleep was out of the question. I’m posting this so people know it’s still a horrible option.

I paid $170 for a night’s sleep, but the noise from people walking along the wooden boardwalks made that difficult. The phone started ringing at 7 a.m., and I have no idea why. I asked for a late checkout, yet at 9 a.m. someone from housekeeping, I couldn’t tell if it was a woman or man, banged on my door yelling, “house keeping”!

I stepped on a needle while leaving my room. Patty at the counter apologized, then put it in a bag of needles she had stored in her drawer. That was creepy on its own. I also believe the maintenance man, Alan Remsen, went into guests’ rooms while they were sleeping or away and stole things. After checkout, I reported him to the local police. Items were missing from my travel bag, and he was the only person I saw leaving my room as I came in. There were lots of drug deals, police around the building weekly, and frequent shootings. I also say the Anchorage Police Department was constantly watching the place for drug activity. I would never stay here again.

This is my second stay, and they remembered me, which was really nice. The staff are friendly, and I appreciate having privacy while still getting help when I need it. Patty especially deserves a raise! :)

They charged me under the table, and Priceline charged me too, so I was billed twice for the same room. My stay wasn’t even marked down. That’s money laundering, and it’s illegal.
