The Lakefront Anchorage

The fitness room was a pleasant surprise, with free weights, treadmills, and ellipticals; the treadmill I used worked perfectly. Staff were kind and welcoming, and our spacious room was clean. Housekeeping cleaned early on our first morning, so we came back from breakfast to a tidy room, but nobody returned during the rest of our five-day stay. For the price, the hotel was a better deal than I expected. The lobby is beautiful, there are two restaurants, and breakfast one morning was very good. We were disappointed to find that the second restaurant closed before 8 p.m. on Saturday, especially since we’d gone down for a drink and some food. Our room also had no microwave or refrigerator, which would have been useful for a longer visit. Still, it was a very good stay for the cost, with clean rooms, friendly people, and nice amenities.

My mom said it was a perfect way to finish our time together, and I felt the same. We had breakfast at 'The Flying Machine' before my flight, in an elegant, clean, easy-to-reach hotel with a lovely Alaska theme. The buffet was good but limited to eggs, meats, french toastz, oatmeal, and fruit, though there were plenty of drinks to choose from. Our host was attentive and bubbly. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

The Lakefront is now my regular stop when I pass through Anchorage. It’s close to the airport, the rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the staff are great. On a recent work trip, there was a problem with my reservation on my end. Night manager Mary called my travel people and helped get it straightened out. GREAT service!!

I was worried after reading all the bad reviews, but check-in was quick, easy, and handled by very friendly staff. The building is older, though I’ve stayed in much worse, and the off-season rate was reasonable. I checked July prices too and saw nearly $500 a night. I wouldn’t stay here, or anywhere, at that price. If people are willing to pay it, though, get your money.
