Hotel 7 Inn

There was no coffee or continental breakfast at 8 a.m., just a dispenser without coffee or cups. The TV didn’t work, the blinds wouldn’t close fully, and the bathroom wall and the wall by the heater looked like they’d gotten wet and dried out. Even finding the entrance was a mess. I would never stay here again.

I try to be fair, and I know other people have had good stays here. Mine was bad enough that I’d never recommend this motel or come back. Maybe they were having a rough week, or perhaps the staff I dealt with were later fired. I can’t say what the problem was. I stayed a week and had to take out my own trash. I also kept asking for room service, which never came. At $87.00 a night, the room didn’t feel worth it. There wasn’t a chair, and the small desk was taken up by a microwave, so the bed was the only place to sit. The sink wouldn’t drain, and I had to shave in the tub. I reported the clog every day but wasn’t offered another room. I ended up cleaning and vacuuming the room myself, too. The motel felt dated and run-down, and breakfast was a poor excuse for one. Only one person at the front desk seemed to understand or care about hospitality. I don’t mind older, worn motels, and I stay in them often, but this experience was so bad I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The back entrance’s security lock had been drilled out, so security felt nonexistent. The paint was peeling in the room, the hallway carpet was soaking wet, and the grab-and-go breakfast wasn’t really available. The one good thing I can say is that the place didn’t smell like Marijuana, which, unfortunately, several other hotels in Illinois reek of.

The room smelled very musty, and the office chair’s fake leather was peeling all over. The rooms were listed as double queens, but they were only double beds. Breakfast was just milk and white bread for toast, plus a single oatmeal pie. There was no butter, plates, or fruit. The pool was freezing because it’s no longer heated. I’d stayed here several times over the years and enjoyed the heated pool and breakfast, so it was a huge letdown this time. Those were the reasons I picked it for my son’s birthday. It might be cheap if all you need is a place to sleep, but I wouldn’t suggest it for anything more. Such a disappointment on his birthday, 0/10.
