Coombs Inn & Suites

I like the rooms, the quiet, the historic building, and the downtown location. I’ve stayed twice on two separate trips, and both times the bed was noisy, in case that matters to you. The app key was a frustrating experience, though. I spent 10 minutes outside the lobby trying to work out how to get in. Eventually the door in front of me appeared in the app and I tapped it, but the door stuck and wouldn’t open. It locked again, then disappeared from the app. It was dark and late, and that was a crappy experience.

Jared was extremely helpful finding us a place after we arrived late, tired from a long day of travel, and without reservations. Staying in an old historic mansion was pretty cool, but if I’d planned ahead, I probably would have chosen somewhere else.

If you want a quick stay a block from the Gibson, shops, restaurants, and breweries, this is a convenient, cozy spot with a Bed and Breakfast feel. The old plantation-style home has been divided into separate rooms, with a quaint antique look that mixes old English and plantation New Orleans vibes. Water pressure was great, and there was a mini fridge and microwave. The beds were comfy, too.

Rebecca made us feel comfortable and made our time away from home worth it. We’ll definitely be back. Our stay was very pleasant.
