Days Inn by Wyndham Apopka/Orlando

Juliette made check-in efficient and easy. She was very polite and professional. We enjoyed our stay: the room was clean and spacious, and the shower worked well and was clean. There were soft towels, plus shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion in the room. We also had a few things at breakfast.

The location near Kelly Springs and plenty of places to eat was what brought us here, but we won't choose this Days Inn again. We booked almost a month ahead for Sunday through Tuesday. We've stayed at many Days Inn properties that were consistent with the brand, but this one wasn't. The pool was clean, nice, and almost perfect, and the room we ended up in was very clean. The road outside was busy and used like a drag strip, though we slept okay. At check-in we were given a queen room instead of the king we'd booked, which we could live with. But room 117 hadn't been cleaned, so a cleaning lady moved us to 116 and went to the desk to ask them to update our one card. When I got to the desk, the woman assigned us room 118 instead, so my husband had to move our things a third time. They apparently couldn't spare us two cards for the stay. The next morning we got up at 5:00am for the springs and realized there was no coffee maker in the room. When we returned, Apopka's men in blue were trying to calm things down between the front desk and a guest being evicted over late checkout. Our room was next to the eviction, so we went to the pool, which was the first and main picture in the booking. We stayed there until we thought the eviction was over. But the evicted guest stayed in the parking lot with all their stuff, making everyone at the hotel miserable. The hotel can't predict evictions, but it should at least make sure people removed from their rooms also leave the property. We couldn't nap because a woman was yelling up and down the halls, and there was construction in the room above us. We hadn't known about the construction beforehand. Later, after dinner, we saw people checking car door handles in the lot and smoking the cheapest form of the devil's lettuce. I went to alert the desk, but the woman who'd been upset about the eviction was hanging out in the lobby with the desk worker who'd handled it. I went back to our room and checked that our car was locked. My husband and I decided we'd leave first thing the next morning. Just after 6am, I went to the front office for coffee for the drive home. I had to fight sugar ants all over the counter. When I got back, our card was deactivated, so I called my husband, who was showering, to open the door for me. With two hot coffees in hand, that was super inconvenient. At checkout I asked why the card had been shut off so early. The answer was, “It just happens.”

I've been here a week for work and check out tomorrow. I travel a lot and rarely review places. I was skeptical about booking because Days Inns seem pretty bad these days, but this one is clean, comfortable, and updated, so it's cool. Housekeeping is awesome, which feels rare these days. I don't leave messes, but when I come back, I can tell there's a personal touch. The front desk people I've spoken with were friendly, and there were no issues. Good location and parking. I don't need much, but breakfast isn't a reason to come here. It's toast and cereal. The outside lighting is both a plus and a minus: every other room has lights so bright it looks like daylight through the windows. They really need lower-rated lights. I'd ask for a room without one outside the window. Between that and breakfast, I'd give it four stars instead of five. Each room has a nice TV, refrigerator, microwave, desk, and a couple of chairs. If you want a clean, comfortable place, I highly recommend it. I'd have no issue staying again. If I'm back in the area for work, I'll 100% book here without looking elsewhere.

I only stayed one night, and this was about what I'd expect from a two-star hotel. They advertised breakfast, but it had been discontinued. I had to switch rooms because the TV and phone didn't work, and tiny ants were running around. I should've paid 50% more and gone to the Hampton Inn.
