AmericInn by Wyndham Appleton Downtown

The clean rooms and nice bedding were a plus, and the front desk team was especially attentive. Families seemed to be having a great time in the pool, though the pool area smelled strongly of chlorine, so I’m not sure it’s really saltwater as advertised. Weekends can get noisy with all the children and pool activity. It’s a decent affordable choice for families, but be aware the hotel is in Grand Chute, not downtown Appleton, and technically not even in Appleton.

We paid extra for a later checkout, which gave us more time to enjoy the amenities, and you can even pay more for a 3 pm checkout. The pool space is huge, with lots of tables, chairs, and TVs, and they let guests eat and drink there. We stayed two nights for a Packers game. The rooms are spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the pool and hot tub were nice and clean. The big drawback is there’s no elevator. Everyone we met on staff was friendly. Breakfast was good, with waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, plus cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and more. I really appreciated the late breakfast hours, at least until 10 and maybe even 11, which works well for people who aren’t early risers. There’s a car/restaurant attached to the hotel. We didn’t try it, but other guests said the food was good, and it’s convenient. We took the shuttle to the Packers game from Tanners West, about a mile away, for $35 per person. It’s a great way to get to Lambeau if you can’t find a room up there.

There’s a good range at breakfast, from hot food to fruit, cereal, pastries, and drinks, and it was all fresh and well stocked. I also liked how clean and looked-after the indoor pool was. The room was quiet, comfortable, and very clean, and the staff went out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance, which makes this a handy spot for exploring downtown Appleton. I’d recommend staying here.

We were there on 12/23/25 for my daughter’s birthday and had a fantastic night. The king beds were amazing, and the room was very clean. The pool was excellent, too. Mr. Schwartz at the front desk and Ms. Budrick (The Manager) were friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back!
