AmericInn by Wyndham Appleton North/Little Chute

I chose this AmericInn because my mother was hospitalized in Neenah after a cardiac arrest and remains unresponsive. I’ve needed to visit often, so I wanted an affordable place with breakfast to keep extra costs down. My family usually stays at AmericInn by Wyndham properties, but this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. My car battery died in the cold, and I couldn’t arrive the first night of my two-night reservation. I tried promptly to change the dates through Booking.com, but after waiting for a reply I learned the booking hadn’t been changed. When I arrived, staff said someone had checked in under my reservation. That wasn’t true. They eventually found the room was unoccupied, but still said I’d checked in the day before. I explained that I’d been trying to move my dates. I’d hoped to use the pool and hot tub to cope with the stress, but the pool was extremely cold and the hot tub didn’t work. I reported it and waited a long time. Staff said they were resetting the tub, but after 40 minutes the water still wasn’t warm enough. There were mouse droppings and black mold in the pool area. The room was freezing, too, and the heater kept shutting off, so I had to restart it several times during the night. I didn’t feel comfortable eating the complimentary breakfast given the conditions. I expect a full refund and will share my experience on Google. Absolutely. Since I couldn’t use the hot tub, I tried taking a bath in my room and found other people’s hair in the tub, which was supposed to be clean but only looked that way. The pool door also got stuck. Sometimes it could be opened without a card, and other times a card wouldn’t free it once it had shut fully. A child could get in and fall into the pool, or guests could be trapped in the pool area. I’ve always liked Americ Inn hotels and stayed with them when I needed a hotel, but this place has made me unsure I’d ever consider this location or another one again. The droppings and black mold could make customers sick. Whoever is looking after this hotel is failing badly. If they don’t make this right, I’ll contact corporate at Wyndham. The hotel should be closed until everything is addressed and remodeling is done. I couldn’t upload any more photos. Again, if this isn’t fixed, I’ll make sure everyone I know hears about this location and my experience.
