Baymont by Wyndham Appleton

I slept well in a comfortable bed, and traffic from nearby I-41 didn’t bother me much. Check-in was quick and easy, and the corridors are indoors. The location is odd, you have to drive through the LaQuinta lot to reach Baymont or Texas Roadhouse. My room had carpeted floors and a strange bathroom layout, with the shower almost in its own little box. It’s not a bad stay if you don’t mind a few quirks.

Everything felt peaceful, quiet, and clean, and the service and location were both 10 out of 10 for me. We arrived before the 3 o’clock check-in time, and Jeffrey at the front desk kindly stored our luggage in a private room in case we had a long wait. He could see I was frustrated and did what he could to help. He checked with his coworker Sonya, who was very sweet and found a room available before 3. They were both so kind and helpful. Love it.

There’s a Texas Roadhouse basically in the parking lot, with Kwik Trip and Chick-fil-A across the street and plenty of other restaurants nearby. I stay here often. The Tesla chargers are usually fairly available, though sometimes non-EV drivers park in the way. The cables are long enough to reach around them, and that’s mostly not the hotel’s fault.

I work around here a lot, and the Baymont has usually been reasonably priced, with rooms about what you’d expect at a cheap hotel. But as of 3/23, they’re making me pay a $150 deposit because the manager says there’s “riff raff” in the area. The front desk guys over the previous two months were great and made staying here a pleasure. Now the afternoon woman makes it a nightmare. I’ll most likely take my business elsewhere.
