Stains on the bedding, cracked floor tiles and mirrors, and trash from the previous guests still on the carpet. General cleanliness was poor. A two-star hotel might hope to reach three stars, but with rooms in this condition, that isn’t going to happen. At this rate, they’ll be a one-star place soon, which is sad. See for yourself, but seriously, bring sanitizer and clean bedding.

The owner and housekeepers have always been friendly and professional, and I hadn’t had any trouble at this hotel before. But Kenny, a young employee who isn’t the owner, stopped me when I went to visit someone and said, “No visitors allowed, we don't allow them at this hotel!” I’d just seen three other visitors go to rooms without him saying anything to them. They weren’t white, so I asked if he had a problem with me because I’m white. He said yes. Since I’d never met him before and had no other issues there, I can only conclude it was because of my skin color. Two other employees overheard and met me outside, shocked by what happened. Watch out for him. Kenny, you’ll be hearing from an attorney, as I told him.

The location is pretty good, around ten minutes from downtown and five from the mall. The room was okay, dated but about what I expected, and the basics were there for one night. The lobby smelled like marijuana, while the room smelled of cigarettes, so everything felt stale. The front desk guy made me uncomfortable right away, a little creepy. I probably wouldn’t stay again, though it was decent enough for a night.

My room wasn’t ready when I arrived to check in, so I asked for my money back. The manager refused, saying I’d booked through a third party, but I hadn’t. I showed the confirmation that came directly from them. After I came back from the game, the night person refunded me without any trouble.

It’s a cheap, convenient option for the EAA Airshow, with a bus going there daily for $35 round trip. Oshkosh is 25 minutes away. There’s no pool, and breakfast is very basic: bagels, coffee, juice, and some fruit. The rooms are large, but plain and dated, and there’s no elevator, so expect to carry your luggage upstairs. They smelled old and musty until we aired them out. The stairwell had rubbish piled at the bottom, making it stink, so we opened the window to get rid of the awful smell.
