Courtyard New York Manhattan/ Midtown East

We didn’t stay because the suite we’d reserved wasn’t available, and we were still charged for it. The manager never called us back, and this was the worst customer service I’ve ever had. We arrived at 11:30am and had booked a suite because we needed three beds. They said they’d checked me in, but the room wasn’t ready yet, which was understandable that early, so they stored our luggage. When we returned at 10pm for our keys and bags, they told us our room type wasn’t available and moved us to a regular room with two beds. That wouldn’t work for our family. We’d booked the specific room we needed, yet they offered no other way to get more than two beds. They’d already charged us for the suite, and the desk representative said she couldn’t do anything except tell us to speak to a manager the next day. We told her to cancel everything and said we’d drive the three hours home. She then said she couldn’t issue a refund, and we’d have to call the manager the next day. She promised the manager would be available from 7am, but many hours later there was still no response.

The building is old, and the rooms don’t look quite like the photos. Still, it’s a good price for the space you get. Service depends on which staff member you deal with, and there’s no bell service, which was fine by me. I especially liked the roomy lounge on the 12th floor that guests can use around the clock. It’s a handy place for a big group staying in separate rooms to gather. The location is great, close to a subway station, and there’s a Duane Reade downstairs by the entrance with everything you need.

Being able to walk to places like Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and Bryant Park made this a great base for our NYC Christmas trip in 2025. There are also loads of good restaurants just a few blocks away, and ride pickups were easy since cars could stop in the extra space by the entrance. Our family of four had a junior suite. It felt pretty spacious for New York, with a desk and a pull-out sofa my daughter slept on without any complaints. We were on the 52nd St. side, and the noise stayed at an acceptable level. The blackout curtains worked well, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly. Great stay!

The room was clean and nicely updated, and the front desk staff were attentive and friendly. It’s in a good spot, and I’d happily stay here again.
