Budget Inn - Appomattox

I was wary after reading the reviews, but the room was clean, everything worked, and I didn't see any bugs. The woman who checked me in was really nice, and the AC worked very well. Better than plenty of places I've stayed.

I stayed twice during the Farmville VP debate in 10/2016. It may have been awful four years earlier, based on the old review, but it's great now. Nothing fancy, just clean and shiny, with no odor or bugs. There's a small fridge and microwave, and the manager is kind.

The room smelled awful, the bathroom door was nearly coming apart, and the microwave was badly burned. I found bedbugs in the bed, and the towels looked dirty. They demanded ID before letting me in and said I had to be 21, which isn't true. Afterward, they charged me another $200 because an ashtray had broken, and said they'd call the police if I didn't pay.

There wasn't a clean surface in the place. Food was splattered inside the microwave, and the doors were filthy and black with dirt. The curtains were thick with dust, and under the headboard I saw what looked like bedbug droppings and eggs. I have pictures. The place has had, or still has, bedbugs. Never stay here.
