Super 8 Aransas Pass

The room felt roomy, not cramped, and it was clean. The staff were friendly, and the price seemed good for being close to the ocean and just a five-minute drive from the Port Aransas ferry. I wouldn’t call my stay bad. The tile floor looked nice but was cold underfoot, so carpet would’ve helped. The beds could be softer, too. Breakfast was just coffee, fruit, and grain bars. Really, they could do better than that.

It’s an older motel that was renovated after Hurricane Harvey damage in 2017. Some rooms have both an inside and an outside door, which I like. The room I stayed in had a larger fridge with a top freezer for my blue ice. A good motel for a fishing trip here.

Housekeeping cleaned the room during the stay, which was nice since many places don’t clean until you leave. The staff were friendly and the room was nice. The mini fridge didn’t work at all, and there was shampoo but no conditioner. There wasn’t a business center or kitchen like the website said, and breakfast was unavailable because of the virus, which I expected. I checked the bed and linens and didn’t see bed bugs, roaches, or ants, which was good.

I booked with super 8 a week before spring break because I knew how busy the beach gets on holidays. When we arrived at 3am, the room was filthy. There was no hot water, the bed was dirty, and the microwave hadn’t been cleaned. At the front desk, the woman gave me fresh sheets and said I could make my own bed. I paid for a service and shouldn’t have to clean the room myself. When I told her about the hot water, she basically said too bad, there were no rooms left, and we’d have to deal with it. We’d booked a smoke-free room, but the blankets had cigarette burns and smelled of smoke. I couldn’t find another available hotel because everything was full for spring break. I couldn’t shower during the stay, and there was no breakfast despite what the website described. The website listing and what we got were two different things. Customer service denied my refund request. I also filed complaints with the BBB and health department, and I’ll be filing with the health department because, in Texas, it’s illegal not to have hot running water. I feel like the room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests checked out. It was very disappointing and disgusting, and we saw multiple roaches.
