Super 8 by Wyndham Arcata

The rates worked for me, and I felt cozy each time I stayed. My room was always clean, with the TV and heat working. I used to book here regularly and was happy with every stay. If I need a room again, I'd definitely come back. I'd recommend it to friends, too.

I left a bag behind, and the housekeeper came outside to find me before I drove off. I tried to track her down afterward to leave a tip, but couldn't find her. She really saved me from losing my bag, and that kind of service deserves a thank you. The front desk staff were cool, too, and the maids were great. The room was about 90 bucks here, compared with roughly 130 to 150 at other places I checked. For the price, this is a great place to stay.

At midnight, my key stopped working, and I was left locked out with all my belongings inside. The only desk clerk was virtual, a person in India on a screen, and they couldn't issue a new key because of a technical glitch. I might have to get a room at the hotel next door and come back in the morning, when hopefully someone is there in person. If I have to wait for staff to arrive, I'll miss my meeting because I can't leave early. Never stay somewhere without a live person available around the clock. Zero stars.

Simon at the front desk was kind and professional, and happy to help with questions or requests. I needed that coffee, and appreciated his help. Even with a McDonald's next door, it's nicer to sit in this kitchen nook. Thank you!
