Prospect Park was right outside our room, and the neighborhood had a great feel, with the subway just a short walk away. Jan, the resident of the home, was lovely and always ready to help. I loved the art throughout the house, and getting to talk with the artist made it even more special. The place has so much beauty and character, and staying here gave me the Brooklyn experience I’d hoped for on my first trip to New York. Already looking forward to another visit to Parkside B&B!

The house was full of amazing art by the owner, and the three large rooms, bathroom, and little kitchen worked really well for our family with three small kids. We stayed one night on the third floor for a wedding in Prospect park, so the location was great. The owner was VERY nice, even though we arrived much later than expected. The sheets and towels were very clean, and the rest seemed decently clean too. There were AC units in the bedrooms. We had to block the stairs so the little ones wouldn’t fall, and the morning light got us up a bit early. Parking was easy to find across the street on Friday night, but it was packed on Saturday.

Paul never came to let me in, even though I’d received several confirmation emails, including one the week before I arrived. I waited three hours, then gave up. While I was on the front porch, one of the many wasps there stung me. I emailed and asked him to call or text, but heard nothing. Thankfully I had friends I could stay with, or I’d have been stranded on a Sunday night without a place to sleep. This is no way to run a business.

Yon, the owner, was so welcoming and sweet. His beautiful paintings fill the room, and we really enjoyed chatting with him. The room was huge and comfortable, and you’re right across from Prospect Park. It’s only a few minutes on foot to the subway, which takes you straight into Manhattan. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Brooklyn.

We rented the second floor, with a king bed, private bathroom that wasn’t en suite, and a kitchen. The room is absurdly large for the price, especially for a classic brownstone in New York, and it had everything we needed for the time we were actually there. Jan is a gem, a quirky artist who fits this quirky place. We used to live in Brooklyn, so the neighborhood felt welcoming and was great. We’re two women who traveled together and felt very safe. This place may not be for everyone, but we loved it.
