Fairfield by Marriott New York Manhattan Times Square

The heating was a problem both nights. It was very cold in the room, and the old system made a lot of noise. I couldn’t sleep the first night with it running, then woke repeatedly from the cold the second night after turning it off. The shower faucet shook and made a metallic sound when we turned on the hot water. We only got warm water, not properly hot. I appreciated being offered breakfast when we arrived at 8:45 a.m., and the staff let us leave our bags for a couple of hours on departure day. The receptionist who explained how to get to the airport was especially helpful. We had booked at least three months ahead and said in a message that we’d arrive early and wanted a city view. I never got a reply, though the hotel clearly knew we were coming early. We did get an early check-in, which was welcome at the time. The problem was that the room didn’t have the city view described in our Booking confirmation. The photos there showed the skyline and skyscrapers, and my message had specifically asked for that view to avoid a disappointment. When I raised it at reception around 6 p.m., a staff member said the room category didn’t necessarily include a view and that we’d received a free early check-in. We hadn’t been told that early check-in meant a different room category. We would have waited for the usual check-in time, since we hadn’t used the room during the day. The replies felt arrogant and scripted, and “Can I do something else for you?” didn’t address my concern. I work in hospitality and expected clearer communication and more consideration.

In just a few nights, my wife and daughter managed to see Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and Summit One, and fit in two Broadway shows. The location made it easy for them to walk around and take in the sights. I booked the stay for my daughter’s birthday, and the hotel upgraded them to a city view and brought treats to the room. Staff also combined the two reservations I’d had to make, so the stay went smoothly. They enjoyed breakfast, and my daughter said the bed was one of the most comfortable she’d slept in. Thanks for helping make a lifelong memory for them.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, with two queen beds, and we felt safe during our stay. Service was friendly and the location was decent. We skipped the free breakfast since it’s not our thing, but otherwise everything was great. I’d recommend staying here.

We stayed for six days and had a good experience. It’s about a five-minute walk to Times Square, and the front desk was responsive and cooperative. Housekeeping did a good job. Breakfast was the usual for a hotel in this class, with attendants keeping the room clean and food refilled. Seating was well managed, and we never had trouble finding a place to sit.
