Spur Hotel

You can settle in with a book in the library lounge or on the front porch and enjoy Archer City’s slow pace, especially after a visit to the Larry McMurtry bookstore. The hotel is lovely, and the husband-and-wife staff are delightful. My one complaint is that hallway noise carries into the rooms.

Dotty made us feel like family and was so warm and accommodating. We stopped at the Spur on a whim during a cross-country road trip, and it turned out to be a special little taste of home and Texan hospitality. A real local gem.

The western decor is excellent, and the service is even better. I’ve stayed here twice and found it a great value. I’ll be back each year when I visit Wichita Falls. ❤️👍😎

The “help yourself” amenities were a lovely surprise, and the room and quaint, comfortable atmosphere exceeded what we expected. From talking with John while making the reservation, the place already felt welcoming, and staying there felt more like visiting family than being at a hotel. We’d decided on the Spur before arriving, and we’re glad we did. If you’re in Archer City, Texas, don’t pass it up.
