Pioneer Inn Arkadelphia

Nasty. I've stayed there before, and there were roaches crawling on the ceiling, bed bugs, and everything else. I'm saying it again, please don't stay here.

The walls were thin, and I could hear people talking outside, along with noise from the nearby gas station and train tracks. It made sleeping difficult. The old AC and heating unit took me a while to figure out, but it worked fine once I got it going. Still, for the price and area, the stay beat my expectations. The room seemed newly remodeled, with new appliances, and it was clean, with no roaches or bedbugs. Even though it was a smoking room, it didn't have a stale smoke smell. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I stayed two nights during the weekend of the total eclipse.

We arrived late after finding the place on Google, and someone came to the window after we rang the bell to check my ID. They let us park our car and 16-foot trailer in the corner near our room. The room and bathroom looked freshly remodeled, and we didn't see any bugs. We paid cash and left a cash deposit, which they returned before we left after checking the room. The online price looked cheap, but with tax we paid $84. We heard a little noise from above, though it wasn't excessive. No complaints. We stayed February 12-13, 2024.

Gita, if I'm spelling her name right, was really kind and helpful. We arrived around 3:45 AM, and she checked me in promptly. She was there again in the morning when I checked out and made sure everything was okay. The room could use some attention: there were small "holes" in the curtains, the refrigerator was noisy, and the air conditioner was confusing. I probably won't be back anytime soon, but if I need sleep in the area, I'd return.
