Red Lion Hotel Rosslyn Iwo Jima

It's an older, plain place, but the price was reasonable and it was close to everything we wanted to see. It reminded me of the military facility where I worked with Veterans, with similar colors, though the rooms have some nice photos that fit the DC theme. The room itself was quiet and very clean. There was a handy ice and water machine in the lobby, though I wished there were coffee. The washer worked well, but the dryer wouldn't start. The front desk was accommodating and refunded my change, and a nearby laundromat worked out fine. Good value if you can manage with fewer amenities instead of paying the area's high hotel rates. I'd stay again.

The room felt a little dated, but the towels and bedding were really comfortable and luxurious. We got a good price without extras, and the microwave and fridge suited us fine. Parking was free and felt safe. Don't count on coffee, ice, or breakfast in the room. The location was great, away from some of downtown DC's hustle and bustle.

We barely spent time in the hotel since we were out exploring D.C., and it served its purpose as an affordable option for a family on a budget. The included parking garage was a big plus. Rides with Lift and Uber into D.C. were relatively cheap wherever we wanted to go, and the metro is a .4-mile walk. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. The building is older, but our room was clean, the AC worked, and there was a fridge and microwave. The online information seems dated: the pool was closed, and I think it may be permanently closed.

The neighborhood seemed quiet despite looking urbanized, and we had friendly service when we arrived late. Still, the website pictures gave us the wrong impression. The rooms were dated, the sheets were wrinkled with a spot on them, and the carpet had tears and needed cleaning. Housekeeping only cleaned or changed things when asked. There was no breakfast, and not many restaurants nearby, which made that difficult. We booked because it was close to the metro, but couldn't figure out the location. We didn't use the gym or pool because of the location and uncertainty. With updated rooms and building, this could be a great place.
