Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel

We needed to stay overnight since our home is an hour and a half south and I had an 8 a.m. tour at the White House. Check-in was easy, the hotel was beautifully decorated, and the room was comfortable, with really soft, fluffy extra pillows. The restaurant had some lovely choices. I missed the free breakfast while I was at the tour. When I returned at 9:30, they wouldn’t let me eat because I didn’t have the voucher, which my husband had used when he went down earlier. If you’re not eating together, let the hostess know the other person will come later. From what I saw, the buffet looked delicious and had lots of options. Parking was free and safe.

The service was the best part. Everyone who worked at the hotel was extremely nice and helpful, and the restaurant staff were fantastic too. Our room and bed were comfortable, the location was good, right by Arlington national Cemetery, Reagan airport, and the Pentagon area. Breakfast was a good quality buffet with fresh, tasty food.

I won’t be back. I’ve stayed here more than ten times over the years, and there have been recurring room problems like weak water pressure, hot water that often doesn’t work, and general maintenance trouble. My January 6 to 13 stay in Room 1207 was the last straw. There was an actual opening in the wall between my room and Room 1209, big enough to see directly into the other room. I reported the serious privacy and safety issue to the front desk manager right away. They moved me and gave me points, but the next day new guests were placed in both rooms. It appeared the opening hadn’t been fixed, and this would take more than a patch job. That’s unacceptable. Construction and maintenance failures like this put guests at risk. After more than ten stays and repeated problems, I strongly caution others until the property deals with its underlying infrastructure issues.

We were here on a class trip, and our room wasn’t cleaned even once. There were stains on the sheets, and somehow some unopened snacks were opened and eaten. I know that sounds hard to believe, but I’m serious. A friend even had poop on her walls. Don’t stay here.
