The Beacon Clarendon by BOQ Lodging

The building is solidly built, and I’ve never had a shower with hot water come through so quickly. I haven’t needed any repairs either. Packages from Amazon are always received and accounted for, which matters a lot, and I’ve never noticed pet odors despite there being several pets in the building. The residents are mostly young professionals and students, and they’re polite and well mannered. It’s also only 2-3 blocks from Clarendon station. There was some remodeling and construction during my stay, but it barely stood out. The location is right beside restaurants and bars, so you can hear music on Friday and Saturday nights, plus occasional loud, drunk shouting on the street.

We plan to keep renewing with The Beacon for as long as we can. The Clarendon area is easy to get around on foot, with plenty of day-to-day necessities nearby. Our place is clean and roomy, with a simple, unfussy feel, and it’s quiet between units. The building is well cared for, and the staff are really kind. We love living here.

I went to see The Beacon about a week ago and had a really good tour. Maureen showed us the amenities and the lovely floor plans, and she was great about answering all our questions. I hope a floor plan opens up soon so I can become a resident! :)

Noise from the nearby clubs and bars often carries on until 2am, especially Thursday through Sunday. There’s also construction right next to the complex, which means noise, poor air quality, and awful lighting. Management never told me a new building was going up when I signed my lease. The concierge staff are pleasant and helpful, but after I moved in, I found the management and leasing team unhelpful, with lots of turnover. The apartments look nice at first, but the appliances are cheap and *always* break. When I moved out, management charged me for normal wear and tear, like a sink having been used. A resident warned me about these problems before I moved in, and I wish I’d listened. I’ve generally enjoyed my past apartments, but living at The Beacon was a big mistake, especially for the rent they charge.
