The lobby looked so festive for the holidays, and everyone I met was kind and friendly. Daniel at the front desk was especially helpful, answering all my questions about the area over the phone. When I had to change my reservation at the last minute, I wanted to be sure I could just walk in instead of booking online. Daniel’s service made me feel secure choosing this location, knowing I’d have several rooms available to pick from. I’m glad I did. My room was clean and well maintained, check-in was quick, and I got the rest I needed. They also gave me a late checkout at noon at no charge. Breakfast was free and really yummy.
The stay was very quiet, and the breakfast area was clean. They kept coffee available around the clock, and breakfast had the usual hotel spread: waffles, eggs, some kind of meat, toast, pastries, bagels, juice, and milk. The room itself, though, was old and poorly maintained. The baseboards in ours were coming off the walls, and the bathroom had dirty, worn paint, a plastic toilet seat, and no toilet paper holder, just a small cubby with the roll in it. Also, the website photos can be misleading. Not every room has a fireplace. Be very clear about the pet fee when booking. I have two small dogs, each under 20 pounds, who share a kennel when we travel. I was told the total fee for the stay would be $39.20 with tax. At checkout I found they had charged that amount for each dog, even though the corporate site listed a $35 fee for up to two dogs. I pointed out what I’d been told when booking, and the desk clerk said this hotel charges differently from the corporate site. She did remove the extra $39.20 fee, which I appreciated.
The staff made a difficult two weeks feel much easier. I was living alone with a severe sinus infection when a record-breaking snow and ice storm hit, and I was worried something might happen while I was by myself. Staying at the Comfort Inn in Asheboro, NC turned out to be a very good decision. As the freezing weather kept returning, I extended my stay until it reached two weeks. Sam, Traci, Rachael, and the rest of the team were so friendly and helpful that I felt at home. The location worked well for me. My bank, Sheetz, and Walgreens were all within walking distance, so I could get money, a hot meal, medicine, food, drinks, and snacks nearby. I also used the laundry twice, and both the washer and dryer worked perfectly. There’s an outdoor pool, though I couldn’t use it because it had about two feet of snow and ice in it. Lol. Breakfast started with hot eggs, biscuits and gravy, and sausage patties for the first two mornings. Then a stove problem meant the waffle maker was the only way to get a hot meal for the rest of my 10 days. There were still bagels, bread, muffins, cereal with milk, cream cheese, and juice each morning. The lobby coffee station was always stocked with fresh, hot coffee, creamers, and sugar. I also liked the African animal decor and artwork, which fit with the local NC Zoo. I’d highly recommend staying here.
We ended up leaving and going to the Holiday Inn next door because I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping there with my family. The elevator even had a sign saying only two people could ride at once and large families had to go separately. The room was filthy, old, and falling apart. The smoke detector was beeping when we arrived, and an employee said it was “just the laundry room.” Inside, the desk chair had a broken arm, every lamp was broken, the remote was held together with tape, and the alarm clock was melted. The toilet rocked, and the carpet was dirty and peeling away from the floor. I’ve never stayed in a more run-down hotel. It needs to be torn down.
Daniel, the evening associate, was very responsive and helpful, and Angela in the morning was too. The lobby felt welcoming, and the breakfast area was nice. Management also comped our night, which I appreciate. We stayed overnight on 9/19/25 in room 124 and found bed bugs. I was exhausted from a long day of travel and probably would have gone to another hotel otherwise. They moved us to a different room, where we didn’t find bed bugs. The rooms are outdated, but that alone is manageable. What bothered me in both rooms was the lack of basic care. The curtains were dirty and partly off their hooks, bathroom touch-up paint was about five shades lighter than the original, and the back of the bathroom door was grimy where people push it shut. That made the notice about disinfecting high-touch areas hard to believe. There was water damage on the bathroom ceiling above the sink, the mirror frame had separated at all four corners, and the two-piece ice bucket had mildew. The back of the TV cabinet had also come off. It seemed to me the owners were spending as little as possible to maximize profit.
