Rodeway Inn Asheboro

Terrible stay. The woman wasn’t at the front desk, and the room smelled bad and was full of roaches. Old candy was all over the beds, and every towel was stained. I couldn’t get help because nobody answered.

We checked out early and left because the rooms were so nasty. In every room we tried, the sheets and pillowcases had cigarette burns, even though they were supposed to be nonsmoking. The bed coverings were just a sheet and a very thin cover. The heat barely worked unless turned all the way up, which made the room too hot, so there was no comfortable setting in between. I’d reserved two nonsmoking rooms with two queen beds, but we were given rooms with one bed that smelled like a stale ashtray. They said it would cost another forty dollars to get what we’d booked. After Engine.com finally sorted that out, we were moved to other rooms, and one had to be changed because the smell was so bad. Its lampshade was covered in questionable stains, the box spring was disgusting and stained, the hand towels looked filthy, and the shampoo bottle was clearly used and only a quarter full. I took the towels and shampoo back to the desk, but the heavy set Indian woman seemed bothered about replacing them. She didn’t apologize or say anything about the condition. They’ve changed the name from Econo Lodge, and I wonder if it was because of all the bad reviews there.

I made the reservation the day before, but had to cancel because of a family emergency that resulted in a death. Rodeway in refused to refund me. Those people showed no compassion. I’d give zero stars if I could.

Don’t stay here. I’ve never seen a dirtier motel. Grime covered everything, including the walls, chairs, and ironing board, and there were burn marks on the sheets. The shower and curtain had black mold. I think most rooms are used by long-term tenants, so they get overused.
