Comfort Suites University

The price was bad enough: with Tech's parents weekend on, we paid about four times what the room was worth. Then we found a room in rough shape, with white paste-like stuff on a couple doors and the walls, and peeling paint in several places. On the second night, a lot of water started dripping from the bathroom A/C vent. It spread across the floor and turned the towels yellow. There were wet patches on the ceiling too. Staff said nothing could be done. They offered no refund and didn't offer to clean it up. We had to guilt them into dealing with it, and they did so reluctantly. Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

After getting them out of the elevator, the first thing the male attendant asked my partner and his children was whether they'd been jumping in it. He didn't ask if they were okay. They had been trapped for more than 30 minutes and were all panicking. They had just come back from the grocery store and wanted to eat, then go swimming. They weren't jumping. The whole ordeal was traumatic; now the girls are sick and missed a day of school, and they're afraid to ride an elevator. The hotel made no offer to help or set things right.

We've usually booked with this company and picked this hotel for its location, but after last night in room 325, we won't stay at this location again. The front desk staff were great, and the room had a 3 view facing the highway. Around 3 a.m., I woke up feeling like I was being bitten. I turned on the light and found a bedbug on the mattress. I told the front desk the next morning. She apologized and said she'd tell the GM, but didn't take my number or follow up. I'm posting so people know to be careful and check everything.

The room cost a lot less than I expected, and they actually serviced it every day. I'm used to hotels doing that just once a week. A great experience.
