Homewood Suites by Hilton Lubbock

We had a confirmed reservation for a two-bedroom suite with one king and two queen beds. They waited until we were in town to cancel and tell us they'd oversold the rooms. To make it right, they sent us to a Best Western with two double beds, though we absolutely needed three beds. They also added some points to my Hilton account, not even enough to cover a quarter of a hotel room. It was a very busy weekend, and finding a halfway decent hotel was impossible. After their reply, I contacted customer service. They said they'd “pass on my concerns,” which means nothing is being done. They don't honor reservations, and you could end up stranded without a room. Beware if you're thinking of booking here.

We booked several rooms and had a good stay. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We all gathered in the large space past reception, sat by the fireplace, watched a football game, and ate food we'd had delivered. Breakfast was typical, but good.

We really enjoy staying here, though on our last visit they didn't tell us the air conditioner in our room was broken. They had a small refrigerated air unit, but it couldn't cool the whole place. Maybe it would've helped if they'd turned it on before we arrived. Still, for the most part, we really like this place.

The breakfast lady was so kind and wonderful. I was still groggy after a drive of more than 10 hours and didn't catch her name. When the waffle machine had a problem, she and someone who looked like maintenance tried to fix it for us, though they couldn't get it working. I really appreciated the effort. We were only there one night, passing through on our way back home to Colorado, and the place suited our needs. The property seems a bit older, but the room was clean, breakfast was pretty good, and the coffee was really good.
