The rooms feel fresh and uncluttered, with a comfortable bed, a good shower, and plenty of space in the shared areas. We’ve stayed at Glō twice now and had no complaints either time. It’s a short drive to downtown, parking is plentiful, and the place was very clean with friendly staff. Breakfast is included from 6-10am, with the usual hot options like eggs, bacon or sausage, and biscuits and gravy, plus more. For the price, it’s an incredible deal. We’d come back and recommend it to friends.
I didn’t feel safe staying here with my family or leaving my vehicle there, so we left before the end of our reservation. I asked for the cost of our two nights to be covered, but the receptionist spoke with the manager and said no refund would be given. The manager and assistant manager were off that day and wouldn’t take my call, though I was told I could speak with them the next day. I also wasn’t refunded for the nights we cancelled. I had stayed overnight on 3/6/2026 and was due to stay again on 3/7/2026. Around 9:20 AM, a man who wasn’t a guest drove into the lot, swung a golf club, urinated in the bushes, and came inside to use the bathroom. Sometime before 10 AM, he smashed my rear view windshield. No one at reception called me, although they said he had been in the hotel for 40 minutes waiting for me. I’d given them my vehicle’s make and model at check-in, so I don’t understand why I wasn’t contacted. I only discovered the damage around 11:30 AM, when I was leaving for the day, then called the police and filed a report. The receptionist said homeless people and people who are drunk or using drugs often walk through the lot, come in for breakfast, or use the bathrooms. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The breakfast was much better than I usually expect at a hotel. There were eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, sausage and biscuits (the biscuits were delicious), plus a pancake station with fruit, cinnamon, syrup, and honey. They also had bagels and other breads, a toaster that handled several slices at once, two kinds of milk, yogurt, fresh bananas, oranges and apples, three juices, cereal, and oatmeal. Staff kept everything stocked. The dining area is small but works fine. My one complaint was how flimsy the plates were. We were there at Thanksgiving, and they’d prepared a nice Thanksgiving meal for the staff from Cracker Barrel. The room and the rest of the hotel were neat and clean. The bed was comfortable, and I loved having all the pillows. The faucets had good pressure and the hot water came quickly. There was plenty of nice-smelling soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. The room had a Keurig with Caribou coffee, which my husband loves, and little bottles of water. The TV had basic cable. It was quiet unless someone slammed a door. The view was just a hillside and some houses, but that wasn’t why I came. There’s an indoor pool and exercise room, though I didn’t use either, and snacks and drinks are sold downstairs. The grounds were lovely, with bushes and flowers that I’m sure look pretty in spring and summer, and the parking lot was nice. Check-in was easy and friendly, there were handy carts for hauling our things upstairs, and the elevators were quick. I’d have a hard time finding much to nitpick, and we’d highly recommend GLo.
Kristin at the front desk made the stay especially pleasant. She checked us in, asked about what we were planning to do, and remembered us the next day. She was probably the sweetest person I’ve met. We had a great two-night New Year’s stay at Glo Asheville, at a good price and close to everything. The room was just right for my husband and me, with a mini fridge, Keurig, toiletries, and what we needed. The bed was harder than I prefer, though that’s personal preference. The walls are thin and you can hear a lot, but we sleep heavily, so it didn’t bother us once we were down. The toilet paper was also pretty hard and scratchy. None of that would stop us from staying here again.
The best part of this stay was leaving. We’d booked three nights, but checked out after the way Kristen treated us. At the end she said, “you can leave now.” Yikes. The pool was the main reason we chose this hotel, and after a seven-hour drive we found it barely 50 degrees and not heated. My kids were disappointed, but they toughed it out and swam anyway. The room was below par, the bed was hard, and the hallways were noisy late into the night. You could hear people coming in and out and talking through the thin walls. Breakfast was fine, though the coffee machine was broken. At 9am on Christmas Eve, we got a noise complaint because the kids were talking normally and walking around while playing with dolls and Hot Wheels and watching TV as I dried my hair. They weren’t running, yelling, or jumping. Kristen called the room several times and hung up before I could answer, then finally said someone complained about running. I told her I understood and explained to the kids that someone had complained, even though they weren’t loud. My four-year-old son started apologizing over and over, felt embarrassed, and wanted to leave because he thought he’d gotten us in trouble. Less than a minute later, Kristen came to the room while I was getting dressed, comforting him, and gathering our things to check out. That upset him even more, and he was scared he’d get in trouble. I’d have understood if we’d actually been loud, or if it had been very early or later in the evening. The front desk was often unattended, too.
