La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Downtown Asheville

The staff were very attentive and accommodated all our requests and needs. The place was clean, and La Quinta is definitely on my list of good motel options.

After years of staying at La Quintas in 30 different states, this was by far the worst. It was dirty and disgusting. The toilet stopped working after one flush, and maintenance was nonexistent. The elevator was painfully slow, if it was working at all. Breakfast was awful: cold, runny eggs, and every creamer I tried curdled in my coffee. The worker wouldn't or couldn't get fresh cream, so at 6 a.m. I had to drive to a nearby restaurant for coffee, despite specifically booking a hotel with breakfast. I was on a business trip, and a nonworking computer and printer in a hallway do not make a business center, whatever the hotel advertises. Housekeeping ignored my simple Do Not Disturb sign. The front desk staff were clueless and unhelpful. LaQuinta wasted my time and money. Adding the Wyndham name hasn't added prestige. Before the merger, Wyndham was a more reliable chain with consistent policies.

The staff were helpful, and breakfast was good. I spent three days here and had a pleasant stay. The room and bed were clean, and the indoor pool was clean and comfortably warm.

They charged me a smoking fee even though I never smoked in the room. They claimed they had evidence but didn't explain what it was, and were no help in sorting it out. I've stayed at plenty of Wyndham hotels and have never been stupid enough to smoke in a room. This is ridiculous.
