The Canterbury room felt quiet and homey, and it was much larger than the website made it look. My husband and I spent the 4th of July weekend here and loved the setting, with its hillside lawns, seating area, and valley view. We had our own entrance and parking just outside the room, which worked out perfectly. Check-in was contactless and easy, with the key and instructions in an envelope by the front door. The room was very clean, we got homemade cookies each day, and the breakfasts were wonderful, with lots of care from the hosts. We had fruit smoothies, fresh fruit and muffins, plus Cornflake French Toast and Cheese Blintzes on the mornings we ate there. The tables were nicely set, and the three-course breakfasts gave us a chance to chat with our hosts. They included masks with the virus-related information. I found the instructions easy to follow, including the notice that the pool was not in use, and they answered our questions and were engaging. Some reviews mention that the hosts weren’t cordial, but that wasn’t our experience. Check-out was just as smooth as check-in. We’d gladly return with friends for another wine touring weekend.

Don and Deana were wonderful hosts again, and we had another perfect stay, just like the first one. The Romeo Inn is quiet and comfortable, with excellent breakfasts and cookies, and the theaters are an easy walk away. I can’t recommend this B&B enough. Book it, you won’t be sorry.

Our hosts gave us helpful pointers on where to go, what to do, and how to get there. The house is lovely and peaceful, away from the busy main area but still walkable, about 0.7 mi from the theaters. Our room was roomy and comfortable, and we appreciated the homemade cookies and hot tea at bedtime. We recommend this B&B.

I’ve spent nearly an hour trying to work out when I could book a room, and I’m giving up. There doesn’t seem to be a calendar of open dates, so it’s just guesswork trying different dates and ranges. I still haven’t submitted my vacation dates for this year, but I need to do that within the next two weeks, so I’ll look at other options. The main website’s last update is basically “TBD” and dates from 2022, so I’m not even sure the place is still OPEN. That’s too bad, because the couple who ran it were lovely. If it is open, I wonder how much business they’ve lost by not showing available bookings.

We give the Romeo Inn 6 out of 5 stars. My husband and I came from Portland, another couple from the Bay Area, and a family friend from Seattle for a nine-day stay. We’ve been coming to Ashland annually for at least 40 years and have tried several local B&Bs, along with the town’s landmark luxury hotel, the Ashland Springs Hotel. We first found the Romeo Inn in the mid 1980s and have stayed there ever since, except for one time when it was fully booked and we went to the Ashland Springs Hotel. Don and Deana Politis keep everything spotless and decorate with flowers from their own garden. They make delicious, healthy breakfasts and accommodate special food needs. They know the local restaurants and plays, and are happy to help with questions. They’re also unfailingly gracious, relaxed, and good humored. There’s a comfortable common living room for visiting or reading, and the patio is so lovely we only stay inside when it’s too hot or too cool to be outside.
