Super 8 by Wyndham Ashland

We stayed here because it’s 15 minutes from Mohican Gardens and Conservatory, and it was worth the price. The staff were very friendly and checked on us each day. The room was surprisingly clean, with clean linens and bed, a spotless refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, and a fresh cleaning-products smell. Even the toilet paper was folded to a point, which suggested good housekeeping. Still, two cockroaches showed up, so that’s why I’m giving it three stars. Keep food in the refrigerator. In the morning we enjoyed hot fresh waffles, coffee, and orange juice. I’d return despite the bug visitors. It is a Super 8, after all.

For good value and convenience, this place gives you the quality and amenities of pricier motels. The staff are helpful, rooms are clean, spacious, and well stocked, and the individual heating and cooling units let you set your own comfort. The property is well maintained and inviting. They make you feel welcome, and they earn your business. I believe the franchise knows how to treat its associates so they want to do their best. CONGRATULATIONS MOTEL 8. ALL VERY WELL DONE

The staff were super friendly, and booking while we were on the road was easy. The room had what we needed for a road trip with our dog: clean sheets and bathroom, locking doors, a fridge, a microwave that was easy to use, and fans that gave us essential white noise in both the sleeping area and bathroom. My only regret is that we didn't have cash to tip housekeeping. I'm so sorry!

The staff were polite and helpful, and the price and proximity to our destination were good. Still, this was a rough stay. Our room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke mixed with animal odor. Running the AC made it tolerable, but the smell returned whenever we came back. It was also dirty, with what we think was cat food, personal hygiene items left by previous guests, dirt on the floors, and mold around the shower. The beds were comfortable, the pillows soft, and the water got hot, though the sheets didn't fit well. The fridge worked well and was larger than some. We didn't eat breakfast, but the fruit selection was very limited. Room 107 was bright at night because the blackout curtains didn't cover the window where the lights came through. I tried using an extra blanket to block them, without much success, and the light made sleeping hard. I understand the need for security lights, but the curtains were inadequate. Our neighbors also smoked a lot, and the smoke drifted into our room.
