Aspen Mountain Lodge

Being able to walk to much of our work conference was a real plus, and the lodge staff were friendly and helpful. But after a room-code problem around 7:30 p.m., I’m uneasy about staying somewhere with nobody on site overnight. They reset the code remotely and got the door open, which worked out, but guests have to call or use chat for help after hours, and anything could happen. We also stayed Monday through Thursday and were told over chat that towels aren’t changed during a stay. I didn’t want to use the same two face towels for nearly a week after all the walking and activities. The room was very basic, and the bathrooms made me eager to get home. I brought cleaning supplies, which helped. Aspen was beautiful, though.

I paid a lot to stay here and came away really disappointed. A group of guests made a huge amount of noise and were disrespectful, disruptive, and vulgar. Staff didn’t call the police, and it took until the third night for the hotel to make them leave. I felt scared the whole stay and even searched online one night for somewhere else nearby. Staff should be trained to involve law enforcement sooner.

The room was clean, and there was enough for a continental breakfast. Rebekah was especially helpful, answering my questions and fixing the heat issue. Heating works differently depending on the room, so ask if you’re unsure. The rooms are nice for what they are, and the hot water worked.

Our flights were canceled over Presidents’ Day weekend, so we booked Aspen Mountain Lodge at the last minute through booking.com. Ruben was wonderful, holding our bags, letting us work from the hotel, and bringing water and snacks. I’d come back for his hospitality.
