Being able to ski in and out at Buttermilk was a dream. It feels like a proper ski resort while still being close to town. The food was good, and the ski lockers were insanely convenient. We had a really great time and couldn’t have asked for any other amenity. 10/10!

Relaxing by the fire pit in the Adirondack chairs, watching skiers come straight down to the hotel, was one of my favorite parts. The heated outdoor pool and hot tubs at sunset were another highlight. The Inn at Aspen has a laid-back, comfortable vibe that makes Aspen feel approachable rather than over the top. You’re right at the base of Buttermilk, with easy ski-in and ski-out access and an easy trip into town. We had such a good stay and would absolutely return.
The Buttermilk ski-in, ski-out location is fabulous, and that’s what saves this place. The hot spa and pool were enjoyable each evening, though the pool deck is mostly dull concrete. The shuttle drivers, especially Marty, Ronnie, and Euyup, were phenomenal and shared plenty of local tips and history on the drives. With some improvements, this could be a beautiful stay, but we’re unlikely to book again. Not getting a good night’s sleep overrides everything else. We knew construction was happening and expected it to be finished by our arrival, so, based on that and other reviews, we thought the inside would be quite new. The price and location seemed unbeatable, but on arrival there was no obvious sign of what had been under construction. Hallway carpets looked old and worn. Daylight showed under every bedroom door and around the sides of some, and we could see why people complained about noise. We pushed a blanket against our door each night, but that didn’t stop the snow machines beeping early in the morning. Our room had a ceiling that needed proper patching before it was painted, which looked cheap. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were the worst we’d ever had. There were four of us, but between the couch and an odd picnic table and bench taking up space, there was nowhere for snow gear and suitcases. The tiny balcony fit only one person and had a rusty chair and table. Check-in service was nonexistent. The two women seemed more interested in curling their eyelashes than helping us. No one explained the property or facilities, so we had to figure out the shuttle and ski lockers ourselves. After housekeeping, we had to ask every day for enough towels for the guests staying in the room. We also learned not to bother greeting most of the housekeepers when we passed them.
This was my second stay, and everything had been perfect until a drink order at the lobby bar. The bartender refused to serve it in a crystal glass, even though people are always drinking from crystal glasses and tumblers in the lobby, and there are bottles of wine and glasses on the lobby tables. He wanted to give me a plastic cup, which was ridiculous. This happened today, Thursday, December 12, 2026, at 7:27 pm. Unbelievable!
The rooms were clean and spacious, and everyone from the hotel staff to the shuttle drivers was kind and polite. Having a free shuttle was a plus, and being able to ski or snowboard right at the hotel was great. We have no complaints and rate The Inn at Aspen 10 out of 10.
