Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springfield

Phyllis at the front desk was fun, welcoming, and helpful, and when I missed breakfast, someone offered to make me a sandwich. The room was big, very clean, and had a spotless bathroom. The bed was cozy too. There are some good restaurants nearby. This was the best stay I've had at a Fairfield.

The room was spotless, and the bathrooms were exceptionally well kept. Getting there was easy, check-in went quickly, and the front desk staff were great.

The older Asian housekeeping woman was great, but my experience with the morning front desk worker, a big Black woman, was not. On the mornings she was there, they never had waffles. One day the milk was warm, and I noticed the fridge was off. When I went to switch it on, she asked, “What are y'all doing?” as if a 40-year-old man would sabotage a hotel fridge. A better response would have been to ask if she could help, or simply make sure the fridge was turned on before putting milk in it. I don't know if that was hotel policy. The key stopped working around 20 times, and none of the hand sanitizers had anything in them during my stay.

The room was on the first or second floor, you'd hear everything through the ceiling, so keep that in mind. We were also told at breakfast that they couldn't bring out creamer because it wasn't a required item, even though it's available at the coffee bar outside breakfast hours. The stay started well, with quick check-in and a nice man at the desk. The rooms were standard, but the hotel needs a facelift. I don't understand the $3 daily parking fee in Springfield, OH. If they need the money, they could add $3 to the room rate, especially since they're not investing in the property. I changed my rating to two stars after finding black mold all over the bathroom.
