Motel 6 Atascadero, CA

My 18 year old daughter had never traveled without me. After working all day and driving six hours, she checked in, left her bag, and went to dinner. About an hour later she noticed how dirty the room was. The bathroom door was locked, and the bedding had black and brown stains that looked like bed bugs. She called me unsure what to do, so I asked her to send pictures and booked her a room at the Marriott. I told her to say she was checking out and wanted a refund. The manager inspected the room, came back yelling at her, and the whole interaction was terrible. Absolutely disgusting.

I’m beyond disgusted. There were multiple BED BUGS in our room, and we found them on our luggage. We’d been prepared to put up with the dirty mattress, dirt covered walls, and broken headboard, but that was the last straw. Now all our luggage is trash, and this has ruined our trip. When we showed the front desk a photo, she said it was a cockroach and maybe we’d brought them in. She only believed us after seeing a bed bug walk across the floor herself, then apologized and gave us a refund. I had to warn others: don’t stay here, and check the mattresses if you do.

There was no hot water in the room, so I couldn’t shower before checkout.

This Motel 6 was awful. It’s supposed to be no smoking, but the room smelled like someone had smoked in it all night. At 3 in the morning I had to sit in the chair with the door open just to breathe. The table was dirty and hadn’t been wiped down. The woman in the office was nice enough, but she was in a room with her kids playing a game. I’m done staying at Motel 6. 😠
